Finally, The Giver has ended. I’ve learned a lot of things from this novel, especially reading. I still remember the first two chapters of The Giver. It was very hard for me to read it in one day! But I read the last three chapters on the shuttle while I was going to school! A very big change on my reading! Also, now I able to read without translation the difficult words.

The ending was unexepected at all! I felt that there might be more information about the story. Also as I said before, the author wanted to compare between our life and The Giver’s life. Most of my classmates didn’t accept the rule of this community ( as Jonas was ), but, in fact, the community’s life might be better for the people. It’s good to have no choices the life. What is better than that you have the best thing for you? But, still, the author could write more and it will be better if she did. I can give 85% overall score on The Giver Story.

I expected more clear and refreshing ending, but it was ended with obscure and frustrated.

I couldn’t catch the result that Jonas finally made it or not. Although, maybe it is not big matter for Lois Lowry. She wanted to state what Jonas thought and tried to do are important. Through those things, we also thought “what our real happiness is.” That is very difficult to answer, but we can say that it is not- completely not “controlled or ruled everything society.” We all have the knowledge and ability of thinking, we have patience, power of overcoming difficulty. The Givers community took off all difficulty and even though joyful things such as sledding or getting sunburn, that is very sad and deep grief. Jonas recognized it and he tried to change it, because he want community people to be really happy. I wish he finally did it. He succeeded to escape without dying or finding out by searching air planes. I hope they-community people could overcome and adjust new/old memories, and could catch real meaning of life.

Chapters 21 and 22 were very exciting, I liked his courage when he kept going and escaping from the community, and when he took care of Gabe, and it was really brave from him. But the end wasn’t like the few chapters before, it disappointed me. Actually, I thought better end then that, I thought there will be more details, such as the people from elsewhere and how their life is or what did Jonas discovered there. I think it was good novel in general but not that one I thought. I spent good time with “The Giver” and fortunately my reading has been improved, which it obvious to me now. I hope that my classmates had a good time with it and god bless 004 J .

Final chapters of The Giver

The last lines of The Giver and the writing are ending. The journey through the book has finalized and our life with Jonas, too. We left the Community like Jonas did it. Our memories begin to go as time goes by. What could I remember of this book? I could remember the ordered and rare Community with all its rules and medicines to control people and their feelings. I could remember Jonas and his step to become adult and how this can cause pain and trouble. I could remember the solitude of The Giver, carrying the heavy weight of the memories and I could remember Jonas and his innocence and his yearning for escape far from the Community with Gabriel, just to see, to taste his memories.

I would talk about the two kinds of people in this Community: people who have questions and people who don’t have. People who have questions, like Jonas, commonly are unsatisfied; generally they are looking for an answer, a good answer. People who don’t have questions only live their mechanical lives. The unsatisfied person has to look for another place to live or has to change his or her friends, or has to eliminate something that is disturbing him or her. The Giver was a good book to reflect on freedom, love, desires, life and death. Finally, to think in our lives following the Jonas life.

Finally, we end this wonderful novel. For me I guessed the end will be happier, but actually it’s very sad and unclear. In the end all kind of feeling and what Jonahs experienced form the cold and snowing, hunger, freighting and a close call experiences which he had, became for me very confusing. Because I don’t know if he really still alive or he pass away and all of those memories he had was only his life pass through his eyes in the last moment. The author said that he arrived to elsewhere we don’t know if its reality place or just the place which he is in after he dies. Any way I like the author’s writing way and I got two more novels for her to read it in out long vacation after we will be done with this semester soon, when I read a story I be alive in it and I feel every thing in me. I some times dream about it. The Giver wasn’t an easy story and also wasn’t very hard, I could easily understand the general meaning with out need to us my dictionary. I really still feel about all kind of pain Jonahs went throught it and I’m sure it could effect my emotion for a while till I start reading the other story and turn to be alive in it again .
Reading is a wonderful thing to do especially with a foreign language it expresses feeling, culture, laws and rules ,traditional and many stuff. Hope every one enjoyed it well and now we have extra vocabulary to keep it in our mind and memories,

Chapter 21,22 and 23 it was the last chapters in “the Giver” novel, I had exiting time when I read this novel, it just short novel, but I learned a lot from it, me and my friends in the class were so afraid to read this novel at the first, but we got along with story and we lived all events were during this novel. Now we finished the novel, but to be honest I didn’t imagined Jones’s will escape from the community, and I made some prediction after chapter 10, but all my predicted was wrong, every time when I want to predict what will happened after this, I found my predicted completely different from in realty. In summary I found this story very useful for us, from learning way as some expression word, or from the lesson that we learned it during this story.

The Giver was amezing book to read because it was helpful for me and my classmates. By reading the last couple chapters I understood that The Giver is a person who wants the best for his community. In this case Jonas sacrificied himself by violating the rules of the community but in the other side it was the best idea for him to dwelling and make the community have a great life. Jonas’s escape from the community has sent his accumulated memories instance back into the consciousness of the community. Whether or not he hears or imagines their singing behind him, Jonas knows that he has given them what he set out to give them: love and loneliness, freedom and choice. He has become the ultimate Giver of community.

I persanally feel sad because I finish the book and it was so fun to read it. I love the Giver and i will be recommending people to read this book. Inthis book I find myself by thinking about others. In others words, I see myself so open to help people who needs a hang, by not been selfish and just think about me. These are situations in life that humans need to know because life is not related with materialism. Life is love, peace and freedom.

In the last three chapters;

I was very thrilled to read the whole and knowing the conclusion of it. I like chapter 21 because it has the event which I was waiting for. It was about Johns escape. At first I was happy because his decision to escape from the community, but after I read the end of the story I was very sad and disappointed. In addition, it wasn’t the end that I drew in my mind when I was read the book. By another word, I didn’t expect the conclusion. Unfortunately, we finished the Giver book and we are almost at the end of the semester, so I hope that this reading was useful for us and we improved our reading skills.

What a Poor Person

In the end of this novel I felt very sad and angry in the same time. In the first I became sad because the end of the story was not clear enough also I felt sad because of what happened for Jonas and how he did in his way to have his freedom and better life. The second feeling for me was angry because how this stupid, strange, crazy community could do like this for young person like Jonas also I want to know how did they send a plane to look for him, but really if I were in Jonas place I will do as he did because I can’t live in a place where the people control me as a robot so I will as much as I can to stop this strange life. In the end I think it would be better if I didn’t read this novel because it’s made me angry, upset and sad.
